Head to Head
The Adelaide Strikers have won four of their last five matches against the Melbourne Renegades. It was however the Renegades that came out on top in their last meeting, winning by six wickets with a ball to spare.
Melbourne Renegades Form
The Melbourne Renegades had a horror season in BBL10, winning just four of their 14 matches. They finished bottom of the table on 16 points, eight off the second last team.
After a tough season the Renegades did at least manage to close off with an 11-run win against the Hobart Hurricanes.
The 2918-19 Big Bash winners will hope to put their troubles behind them and regain the form that saw them to the title three seasons ago.
Melbourne Renegades Team News
Aaron Finch has relinquished his nine-year hold on the captaincy, citing the need to freshen things up. Nic Maddinson will take over.
Finch is still part of the setup and remains the biggest threat to the opposition bowlers. Shaun Marsh is another consistent performer with bat in hand and will need to find his best form if the Renegades are to challenge.
Squad: Aaron Finch, Cameron Boyce, Unmukt Chand, Zak Evans, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sam Harper, Marcus Harris, Mackenzie Harvey, Zahir Khan, Josh Lalor, Nic Maddinson, Shaun Marsh, Mohammad Nabi, James Pattinson, Mitchell Perry, Jack Prestwidge, Kane Richardson, Will Sutherland, Reece Topley
Adelaide Strikers Form
The Adelaide Strikers just snuck into the playoffs last season, beating the Hobart Hurricanes to fifth place on net run rate.
There was however to be no fairytale run as the Strikers fell at the first playoff hurdle. Batting first against the Brisbane Heat, they could only managed 130 runs, a target the Hurricanes chased down with ease.
Over the year in BBL the Strikers have been consistent performers but have failed to cement themselves as regular challengers. They did win the title in 2017-18 but have made no final before or after that.
Adelaide Strikers Team News
While international fringe players will be allowed to play BBL if they are not involved in the Test side, captain Travis Head could well miss large portions as he attempts to make the team.
Alex Carey has also been lost to the Ashes after the left-hander was called up to replace Tim Paine.
Rashid Khan remains the star of the Strikers outfit. He has the ability to win games on his own and should he find his best form, the Strikers will be looking at the playoffs.
Squad: Wes Agar, Fawad Ahmed, Alex Carey, Harry Conway, George Garton, Ryan Gibson, Travis Head, Spencer Johnson, Rashid Khan, Harry Nielsen, Liam O’Connor, Matthew Renshaw, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Peter Siddle, Jake Weatherald, Jon Wells, Daniel Worrall
