Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers Predictions & Tips - Gades set for another defeat

The Strikers are backed to have too much quality for the struggling Melbourne Renegades. Alex Carey has been the form batsman for the Adelaide Strikers and is tipped to top score for them.

The Adelaide Strikers have won four of their last five Big Bash matches against the Melbourne Renegades. Their last encounter took place in the 2019/20 Big Bash season where the Strikers won by 63 runs.

The Melbourne Renegades have lost six of their seven BBL matches this season and prop up the Big Bash table. 

Last time out the Renegades were once again hugely disappointing, losing by 96 runs to the Perth Scorchers in Perth.

The Scorchers batted first and scored 185 runs in their 20 overs. Jack Prestwidge was the pick of the Renegades bowlers, taking 2-33 in four overs.

The Renegades response was poor as they were all out for 89 runs. Only two batsmen, Shaun Marsh (14) and Jack Prestwidge (33) made double figures. That was the third time this season that the Renegades have failed to make 100 runs in an innings.

The Renegades have tried just about everything to get the team firing. Aaron Finch moved to bat at three in the last match with Sam Harper opening. Will they stick with the plan?

The Adelaide Strikers are struggling to build any winning momentum this season. They have won three and lost four of their seven matches but back-to-back wins are proving elusive. 

The Strikers last match saw them lose by seven wickets to the Sydney Sixers in Carrara. Batting first the Adelaide-based outfit managed 150-4 in 20 overs as the batsmen struggled to accelerate throughout the innings.

Alex Carey scored 31 runs, Jonathan Wells 66 and Jake Weatherald 34 but none of their strike rates were up to standard.

It was never going to be enough against a strong Sixers batting lineup whom cruised to a victory by seven wickets with two overs remaining. Rashid Khan took all three wickets for 18 runs but his fellow bowlers failed to back him up.

The Strikers batsmen were solid in their last outing but they do need to take more risks to up the scoring rate. Matt Renshaw opened the batting last time out and he could retain that position.

Batting Alex Carey at three makes sense as he is the Strikers best batsman while Jonathan Wells will be looking for another good score.
