The Hurricanes have been the team to beat all BBL14 and it has proven to be an impossible task at Bellerive Oval this season.
Hobart have shown their depth with both bat and ball this season averaging 13.5 fours and 7.1 sixes in BBL14 with Mitchell Owen leading the Hurricanes with 344 runs. Owen needs to out-score David Warner by 13 runs in the Final to take top batting honours this season.
Riley Meredith was a danger in the Qualifier picking up two early wickets for the Hurricanes and he will need to be on point again early to put the Hurricanes in the best position to win. Expect the 28-year-old to get the vital wickets of the Thunder top order, going after the Thunder’s danger man Warner.

Hobart Hurricanes Form
An opening partnership of 47 runs from Caleb Jewel (40 runs) and Mitch Owen (36 runs set up the Hurricanes for a respectable total of 173 runs, their second highest at home this season which they defended against the Sydney Sixers, booking their place in the Final.
Beside 4 runs from Matthew Wade, 5 of the top six Hurricanes batters all scored double figures with Ben McDermott finding his early BBL14 form leading Hobart with 42 runs.
The Hurricanes knew that 173 was going to be hard to reach and when they had the Sixers at 3-5 the match looked all but over, however the Sixers rallied but the run-rate was never there as they had to protect their wickets.
Riley Meredith and Cameron Gannon did all their good work early claiming the first 4 wickets for the Hurricanes who stayed perfect in Tasmania this season.

Sydney Thunder Form
Sam Billings was the hero for the Thunder in the Challenger with 42 runs* as the veteran held his nerve in a run chase of 151 after a superb performance in the field by David Warner’s men.
The Thunder took care of the dangerous top-order of the Sixers after sending them in to bat first. Both spinners Wes Agar and Tom Andrews both claimed 2 wickets each as the entire bowling attack held the run-rate of the Sixers to just 7.55 per over.
Losing Warner for 11 sent shivers through the Thunder, however, fellow opener Jason Sangha held his place for 30 runs and Matthew Gilkes also put in a solid 26 runs. But it was the experience of Billings who kept the runs ticking over while wickets dropped around him and led the Thunder to victory.
