Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Tips

The Sydney Sixers had their last match abandoned and will need to take the points here to keep the pressure on the Perth Scorchers. My best bet is for the Sixers to get the win.

Head to Head

The Sydney Sixers have won three of their last five matches against the Brisbane Heat, including their last two. They met less than a week ago in a match the Sixers narrowly won by two wickets.

Brisbane Heat Form

The Brisbane Heat have won three and lost five of their eight BBL matches this season. They are currently on 14 points in fifth place on the table.

Last time out the Heat beat the Hurricanes in Hobart by 14 runs. After a slow start the lower order rallied with James Bazley hitting 44 runs to take the Heat to 150 in 20 overs.

Xavier Bartlett then did the damage with the ball, taking 4-30 while Mujeeb Ur Rahman chipped in with three wickets. The Hurricanes could only reach 136 in their 20 overs resulting in a 14-run win for the Heat.

Brisbane Heat Team News

COVID cases are spreading throughout the BBL at a rapid rate. Team news can change constantly with some overseas players deciding to leave the tournament.

Squad: Tom Abell (Fakhar Zaman, three games from January 6), Xavier Bartlett, James Bazley, Max Bryant, Tom Cooper, Ben Duckett, Liam Guthrie, Sam Heazlett, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne (Nathan McSweeney), Chris Lynn, Michael Neser (Cameron Gannon), Jimmy Pierson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Will Prestwidge, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson (Hugo Burdon), Jack Wildermuth

Sydney Sixers Form

The Sydney Sixers are second of the Big Bash table on 23 points after winning six of their eight matches.

Since the defending champions lost to the Hobart Hurricanes, they have won four in a row. Last time out the Sixers won a quite incredible game against the Brisbane Heat.

Sean Abbott was magnificent with the ball, taking 4-31 as the Heat were all out for 105 runs. On a pitch that was doing plenty, the Sixers found themselves in huge trouble at 47-8 and looked on course for defeat.

Abbott (37*) and Ben Dwarshuis (23*) however managed to put together a 59-run partnership to the Sixers to a miraculous last ball win.

The Sixers last match against the Melbourne Renegades was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Sydney Sixers Team News

The Sixers are in superb form at the moment despite the batsmen failing to deliver in the last match. There shouldn’t be many changes to their side.

Squad: Moises Henriques, Sean Abbott, Jackson Bird (Lawrence Neil-Smith), Daniel Christian, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Mickey Edwards, Daniel Hughes, Hayden Kerr, Nathan Lyon (Nick Winter), Ben Manenti, Stephen O'Keefe, Josh Philippe, Lloyd Pope, Jordan Silk, James Vince, Shadab Khan

Verdict

The Sixers have won six of their seven completed matches this season and their last two against the Heat. A Sixers win is tipped with Josh Philippe backed to top score.

Sam Heazlett has consistently scored runs for the Heat this season. He can continue that with a top score.
