Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers Tips
Chris Lynn and Marnus Labuschagne have been in fine run scoring form for the Brisbane Heat. They are both backed to score runs with the Heat to win.
For the Strikers, I am tipping Alex Carey to top score.
- Brisbane Heat’s Chris Lynn has scored 27+ runs in 8 of his last 9 matches.
- Brisbane Heat’s Marnus Labuschagne has scored 46 & 49 in his last 2 matches.
- Adelaide Strikers’ Alex Carey scored 101 runs in his last match against the Brisbane Heat.
- Adelaide Strikers have lost key bowler Rashid Khan for the rest of the season.
Head to Head
The Adelaide Strikers have won three of their last five matches against the Brisbane Heat. They met twice this season with the Strikers winning both matches by 82 and two runs.
Brisbane Heat Form
The Brisbane Heat finished the BBL regular season in fourth place with seven wins and seven defeats from their 14 matches. Going into their final match against the Perth Scorchers, the Heat had to win to get into the playoffs.
Batting first the Heat scored 181 runs in Adelaide. Chris Lynn top scored with 51 while Marnus Labuschagne added 46 runs.
The Perth Scorchers looked on target to win the match but Mitchell Swepson bowled magnificently to keep the Heat alive. He took 2-20 in his four overs. Marnus Labuschagne was the surprise, taking 3-35 which saw the Scorchers fall six runs short on 175 runs.
Heat Team News
The Brisbane Heat should be going into this match unchanged. Chris Lynn and Marnus Labuschagne are the key batsman and have both been performing well.
Overseas signing, Joe Denly and Joe Burns will play an important role, especially if one of Labuschagne or Lynn fail.
Adelaide Strikers Form
The Adelaide Strikers qualified for this eliminator by the tightest of margins. They finished fifth on the table on 28 points, but qualified ahead of the Hobart Hurricanes on net run rate.
Going into their final match against the Sydney Thunder, the Strikers knew that they just needed to avoid a heavy defeat in Adelaide. Jake Weatherald smashed 80 runs off 47 balls to help the Strikers to 115 in 14 overs. Rain ensured the match was shortened.
The Sydney Thunder however cruised to the total with almost two overs to spare, and with the loss of just one wicket. All the Strikers bowlers struggled with everyone going at eight runs to the over or more.
Strikers Team News
The loss of Rashid Khan to international duty is massive for the Adelaide Strikers. He is by some distance their most dangerous bowlers but the likes of Peter Siddle will now have to stand up.
On the batting front, not much will change. The return of Travis Head has added plenty of quality to the side. Alex Carey should continue to open the batting.
