Bold Predictions for the Big Bash League 2024-25 Season: Who will win BBL14?

The BBL14 season is still a few months away bet here at bets.com.au we are going to go out on a limb and give you a few bigger and bolder predictions of who is going to win the upcoming season of domestic T20 cricket in Australia.
  • Bold Predictions for the Big Bash League 2024-25 Season: Who will win BBL14?
  • Melbourne Renegades win BBL14
  • Jake Fraser-McGurk to score the most runs in BBL14
  • Xavier Bartlett wins the award for Most Wickets Taken in BBL14… Again

The season will kick off in Perth for the first time with the Scorchers going up against the Melbourne Stars on December 15, 2024 and will come to its climax for The Final on January 27, 2025.

Who will be there and who will not? Who will be the BBL14 top scorer and wicket taker and which team will put a shock through the league. Read on to find out what we predict for the Big Bash League 2024-25 season.

Melbourne Renegades win BBL14

Let’s go big off the bat. The Renegades got just two wins last season and did not look great BUT, with their first signing of the offseason they picked up The Final hero for Brisbane and poached Josh Brown from the Heat.

The Brisbane opener hit 53 from 38 balls in The Final to accompany the 140 runs from 57 balls he hit in The Challenger to qualify for the final. Now, Brown wasn’t that consistent throughout the whole tournament but has definitely matured and gained confidence heading into BBL14 and his combination with the excitement-packed Jake Fraser-McGurk will prove too valuable and too deadly for any other team to compete with.

The focus for the Renegades will be to bolster their bowling attack which does consist of full timers Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson already.

It is bold but it is worth a dollar or two.

Jake Fraser-McGurk to score the most runs in BBL14

When the Renegades win they will also be naming Jake Fraser-McGurk as the top scorer with the bat in BBL14.

Fraser-McGurk holds the record for the fastest List-A  hundred by scoring a century in just 29 balls for South Australia vs Tasmania in the Marsh Cup making a name for himself in 2023 at the ripe age of 21 years of age.

Since then he has played a couple of seasons in the BBL, IPL and even made his ODI debut in February 2024, where in just his second game he smashed 41 runs from just 18 balls For Australia.

In the most recent IPL season Fraser-McGurk hit four half-centries, two off 15 balls and one off 19 balls with his highest score of 84 coming off just 27 balls against Mumbai. The 22-year-old finished the IPL season with 330 runs from 9 innings at bat and a strike rate of 234.04.

The young superstar is set for a huge BBL14 and if he walks away as the highest scoring batsman he will almost ensure his place in the Aussie T20 squad and likely the ODI squad for years to come.

Xavier Bartlett wins the award for Most Wickets Taken in BBL14… Again

Playing the safe card here so maybe not so bold but definitely still brave.

Xavier Bartlett took 20 wickets in BBL13 leading his teammates Spencer Johnson and Paul in second and third place. The Brisbane quick’s performance earned him a debut for the Australian in the ODI format first where he had a dream welcoming to the international stage taking 4 wickets for 17 runs at the MCG and then followed it up with another 4 wicket haul in Canberra with both matches played against the West Indies..

Bartlett then made his T20I debut with figures of 2/37 and the only Australian bowler to claim multiple scalps of the West Indies.

The Heat fast bowler will be out to have another fine BBL season to also ensure his spot in the Australian side and keep his name in the mix for when the time is right for the Australian selectors to move on from their clinical trio of quicks.
