Bangladesh come into the Asia Cup having just beaten Zimbabwe 2-1 in a T20 series. Their form has however been a bit up-and-down in the shortest format.

The Tigers poor form resulted in head coach Russell Domingo being sacked as the T20 coach, although he remains as the coach for other formats.

This will be a tough game for Bangladesh, Afghanistan are no longer minnows, as they showed earlier this year where they drew a series against The Tigers.

Shakib Al Hasan is the key to the Bangladesh success. He is the world’s top all-rounder and captain of Bangladesh. They have plenty of experience in the batting department and some world class bowlers.

Afghanistan got their Asia Cup off to a magnificent start, beating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in Dubai.

Bowling first, Fazalhaq Farooqi took 3-11 in 3.4 overs while Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 2-24 and Mohammad Nabi 2-13 in four overs. Sri Lanka were all out for a paltry 105 runs.

In response Afghanistan wasted no time in winning the match. They reached the target in 10.1 overs as Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed 40 off just 18 balls. Hazratulla Zazail added 37* in an 83-run opening stand.
