Since last fighting Luis Ortiz in March 2018, Wilder was involved in an all-time classic and a quick-fire assault.

Tyson Fury took the Bronze Bomber to the judges in a bout that ended in a draw.

Many thought Fury did enough to get the decision after thoroughly outboxing Wilder for much of the 12 rounds. Both men would feel they did enough to get the win.

Wilder then went on to retain his title in spectacular fashion, knocking out Dominic Breazeale in the opening round.

Now Wilder prepares for a rematch with arguably the toughest opponent he had faced prior to Fury in Cuban Ortiz. Wilder won the first fight with a 10th round knockout and also had Ortiz down in the fifth. However, Ortiz caused plenty of problems for the champion, particularly in the seventh round as Wilder survived to the bell.

Wilder is never going to go down as one of boxing's greatest technicians, but does it matter when he carries unprecedented knockout power?

Luis Ortiz displayed in the first fight with Deontay Wilder why he is one of the most avoided heavyweights on the planet.

The Cuban may have suffered two knockdowns and an eventual knockout, but he went toe-to-toe with Wilder for much of the fight, something we hadn't seen before. He may have delivered the knockout blow in the seventh round if he had 15 more seconds.

Ortiz has fought twice since the first fight with Wilder, knocking out Travis Kauffman in the 10th and final round in December, before claiming a unanimous points decision over Christian Hammer in March.

Given a second chance to fight for a world title, Ortiz is likely to come prepared and will be confident of his chances considering how close he ran Wilder first time round.
