Brisbane took out the preseason NBL Blitz Title with three victories and using all three matches to blood the new faces in their squad , giving their top players a proper run through. New Zealand on the other hand did the opposite with their biggest names getting reduced minutes, like most other teams tactics.
Key defensive player Freddie Gillespie will be out for this game after a suspension for a headbutt which opens the door for Brisbane’s big men to go to work down low. Expect plenty of the offence to go through the hands of Tyler Harrisson and Rocco Zikarsky early which will open it up for their perimeter shooters.
The Bullets will score over their total of 85.5 points with the Breakers defensive unit lacking continuity to start the season.
- The Bullets won all 3 games at the NBL Blitz
- The Breakers lost all 3 games at the NBL Blitz.

New Zealand Breakers Form & Team News
New Zealand turned some heads last season after overcoming their injury riddled season to make it through to the second round of the play-in after beating Sydney on the back of 34 points from Jackson Parker-Cartwright.
The Breakers have had a bit of a clean out over the winter and have added plenty of new face, but none more important than new head coach Petteri Koponen, who is an icon in the Finnish basketball system.
Additions of guards Matt Mooney and Mitch McCarron give the Breakers playmaking and shooting depth beyond PJC and Kiwi Sam Mennenga and import Freddie Gillespie give them size heading into NBL25.
All the pieces are there but they will need to overcome their tough schedule playing two regular season games before heading to the USA to partake in the league’s preseason against the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma Thunder.
Brisbane Bullets Form & Team News
How much its worth is debatable but the Brisbane Bullets took out the NBL Blitz silverware winning the preseason tournament on the Gold Coast, winning all three of their matches against last year’s grand finalist Tasmania and Melbourne and also getting up against Cairns.
Brisbane missed out on the finals in NBL24, finishing the season just outside the play-in bracket in 7th spot. NBL24 was a rollercoaster ride for the Bullets with all though stars going through waves of form and the Aron Baynes suspension saga taking the life out of the team.
NBL25 does look brighter as the Bullets move on from Nathan Sobey and bring in import James Batemon, who they have been tracking for a couple years. Batemon will be the center of their offence with Casey Prather, who was injured for NBL24, playing the supporting roll.
Big things are expected from the Bullets at center with Tyrell Harrison projected to be one of if not the best big man in the NBL this season. Right behind him is Next Star Rocco Zikarsky who is projected to be a first round draft pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
