Round 4 of National Basketball League begins with the Illawarra Hawks taking on the S.E Melbourne Phoenix on Thursday, December 23, at WIN Entertainment Centre.

Illawarra Hawks vs S.E Melbourne (Thursday @ 7:30pm at WIN Entertainment Centre)


Illawarra currently sit third on the ladder with three wins from four matches. Last round the Hawks narrowly defeated the Breakers by one point, 97-96. Tyler Harvey was terrific for the Hawks with 26 points and seven rebounds. The Phoenix currently sit second on the NBL ladder with three wins from four matches. Last round they suffered their first defeat at the hands of the Kings, 84-73. Mitch Creek top scored with 22 points for South East Melbourne.

Tasmania Jack Jumpers vs NZ Breakers (Sunday @ 1:00pm at MyState Bank Arena)


Tasmania currently sit ninth with one win while NZ are yet to record a win from three rounds. Last round Tasmania travelled to Perth, going down to the Wildcats by 18 points with Josh Magette having a wonderful game with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Jack Jumpers lost to Sydney by 12 points on December 22 with Clint Steindl top scoring with 15 points. NZ lost to Illawarra by one point with Yannick Wetzell putting in a dominant performance with 25 points. Later in the round the Breakers lost to Melbourne in comprehensive fashion, 60-83.

Sydney Kings vs Melbourne United (Sunday @ 3:00pm at Qudos Bank Arena)


Sydney currently sit seventh with two wins from four matches and United sit fifth with two wins. In round three Melbourne defeated Sydney and New Zealand. First up United defeated Sydney by 42 points with Chris Agada top scoring with 21. Melbourne then defeated NZ by 23 points with Chris Goulding (21 points) crucial in the win. In round three Sydney lost to Melbourne and then defeated S.E Melbourne bynine points. In their win Jarell Martin recorded the equal most rebounds with 10 and Xavier Cooks scored the most points for the Kings with 19.

Brisbane Bullets vs Cairns Taipans (Sunday @ 5:30pm at Cairns Convention Centre)


Brisbane lost to the first placed Perth Wildcats by seven points last week. Jess Wagstaff top scored for the Bullets with 21 points. Later in the round Brisbane defeated the Hawks in a close match, 96-92. Nathan Sobey was at his damaging best against Illawarra with 17 points, four rebounds and five assists. The fourth placed Taipans managed to defeat the Adelaide 36ers 93-67 last week. Majok Deng was on fire with 23 points while Tahjere Maccall recorded the most assists with 10.

Adelaide 36ers vs Perth Wildcats (Tuesday @ 7:30 pm at Adelaide Entertainment Centre)


Adelaide currently sit in eighth place with two wins from five matches and Perth are sitting pretty on top of the ladder with four wins from five matches. Last week the 36ers were smashed by Cairns by 26 points. Dusty Hannahs shooting game was on point with 20 points while Isaac Humphries collected a match high ten rebounds. Perth defeated Brisbane by seven points with Bryce Cotton (29 points) at his usual best. In the second last match the of round three the Wildcats defeated Tasmania comfortably at home, 101-83. Forward Victor Law was outstanding in the win against the Jack Jumpers with a game high 32 points and 12 assists.
