Brisbane Bullets vs New Zealand Breakers Tips - Bullets to shoot down shell-shocked Breakers

The Brisbane Bullets take on the New Zealand Breakers in an NBL regular season game on Saturday, March 27. Brisbane are currently fifth in the Season Ladder, while New Zealand are second from bottom of the table. This will be their third meeting of the season, with honors split at one win apiece. 

In early March New Zealand defeated Brisbane 97-92, with Corey Webster outstanding for the Kiwis. On March 20 the Bullets beat the Breakers comprehensively 88-67. New Zealand go into Saturday’s game off the back of four-straight defeats, while Brisbane have lost just once in their last five. Because of those facts I have to go with the form team and pick the Bullets to defeat the Breakers on Saturday by at least ten points. 

The Brisbane Bullets and the New Zealand Breakers have played each other a total of 18 times in NBL regular-season and playoff games dating back to 2016. Currently New Zealand leads their head-to-head by 12-6. In their last six matches, New Zealand lead 4-2, but in their most recent meeting on March 20 this year, the Brisbane Bullets won decisively 88-67. 

After a shaky start to the season that saw them lose four of their opening six games, the Brisbane Bullets have established themselves as one of the form teams in the league right now. Overall, Brisbane are 5th in the NBL Season Ladder with a 9-7 record, scoring six of those wins in their last eight games. 

Brisbane have beaten the current top-two of the Perth Wildcats and Melbourne United, as well as the fourth-ranked Illawarra Hawks.  The only team to beat them in their last five games was the Sydney Kings. In their most recent match, Brisbane massacred the New Zealand Breakers 88-67, with Harry Froloing grabbing 20 points for them. 

The New Zealand Breakers are currently second from bottom of the NBL Season Ladder, with a record of 4-11. It wasn’t too long ago that New Zealand were the best team in the league, and they are in fact four-time NBL champions, winning their titles during a five-year period of domination, spanning 2011-2015. 

This season has thus far been a far cry from those glory days. The Breakers no.1 goal right now must be to end a losing streak which stands at four, just one shy of that of bottom club the Cairns Taipans. In their last game New Zealand were narrowly beaten by Melbourne United 82-79.
