Melbourne have dominated Brisbane on their own home court with the Bullets winless against United in Brisbane since February, 2020. With Melbourne rekindling their season on the road while John Cain is taken over by the tennis and with all of the injuries the Bullets are carrying, it is predicted the United will win comfortably.

United have found their defensive spark again so expect Shai Illi and Matt Dellevadova to contain  the attack of Brisbane imports Casey Prather and Keandre Cook, which will see the Bullets fall short of their team total.

Chris Goulding loves a game against Brisbane hitting 5 or more threes in each of his past 5 games against the Bullets. Brisbane have the second-worst three-point defence in the NBL this season so you can expect the Melbourne sharp-shotter to drop at least 5 on Sunday.

  • Melbourne have won their past 7 consecutive games against the Bullets in Brisbane.
  • Brisbane is averaging 86.2 points on offence per game in their past 5 matches, 6.5 points less than their season average.
  • Brisbane rank 9th in the NBL with a 37.3 opposition three-point percentage.
  • Chris Goulding has sunk 23-41 from three in his past 4 games against Brisbane.

Brisbane Bullets Form & Team News

Despite carrying injuries to their marquee players like Tyrell Harrison and James Batemon the Bullets went over to New Zealand on Friday night and kept their play-in chances well and truly alive with a 93-87 win in Christchurch.

The Bullets leaned on their imports Casey Prather (24P+8R+4A) and Keandre Cook (26P+2R+6A) as they have done for the majority of the season and it paid dividends against New Zealand’s poor perimeter defence with the pair dropping 10 three pointers at 43.47%.

With Josh Bannan playing as the big without having the true stature, the Bullets need to rely on their backcourt to lift and do the majority of the scoring, just as they did against New Zealand.

The Bullets also need to play the tight defensive game that they have done in both of their recent matches against New Zealand where they have held the Breakers to under 90 points. Whereas in the four matches in between, they conceded 105 points or more in each game.

Melbourne United Form & Team News

Melbourne United flew to Perth as the underdog at RAC Arena and shocked the Wildcats with arguably their best game of the season, getting up 99-93 extending their slim 3-point lead heading into the final quarter.

Perth were averaging 110 points per game in their past 10 matches before facing Melbourne as Shae Ili and Matthew Dellavedova did a miraculous job of shutting down the Wildcats Bryce Cotton who had just 14 points and 5 assists in the match.

The match in Brisbane will be the final game of Melbourne’s 7-game road run where they have gone 4-2, which will be an improvement no matter the result on last year’s effort during the Australian Open when they went 3-4.

If Goulding is not dropping 6+ threes in the game, Melbourne will struggle to keep up in high-scoring contests, however, they have shown on the road that if they lean heavily on their defence they can compete and win against any of the top teams in the NBL.
