Phoenix Suns @ LA Clippers Live Stream & Tips

The Phoenix Suns will play the LA Clippers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday, June 27. Phoenix had led this series 2-0 and looked in control, but just as they have in the two previous rounds, the Clippers won game 3, on this occasion by 14 points 106-92 on Thursday.

In the Western Conference Playoffs First Round the Clippers went 2-0 down to the Dallas Mavericks but rebounded to win four of the next five games and take the series 4-3. In the WC Conference Semifinals against no.1 seeds the Utah Jazz the Clippers once again lost the first two games, only to roar back with four straight match wins to take the series 4-2.

For their part, Phoenix defeated defending champions the LA Lakers 4-2 in the first round and then whitewashed the Denver Nuggets 4-0 in the semis. Because the Suns were in great form with seven straight games won – which increased to nine when they took a 2-0 lead against the Clippers - another whitewash looked a possibility. However, as we now know – like Rocky Balboa, the Clippers never know when they are beaten.

I’m backing the LA Clippers to win again on Sunday, defeating the Phoenix Suns by at least ten points to level the WC Conference Finals at 2-2.

  • Suns finished 2nd in Western Conference
  • Suns went 51-21 this season
  • Clippers finished 4th in Western Conference
  • Clippers went 47-25 this season

Head to Head

The Phoenix Suns and the LA Clippers have played each other a total of 227 times in NBA regular season matches, with Phoenix currently leading their head-to-head by 133 wins to 94. Over this season plus the two previous, these two teams have played each other 11 times, with LA leading 8-3. The Clippers and the Suns met three times during the 2021 regular season, with LA finishing 2-1 up.

Phoenix Suns Form

The Phoenix Suns’ top points’ scorer Devin Booker suffered a broken nose during his team’s 104-103 win over the LA Clippers last Wednesday. Booker’s nose had to be re-broken and then re-set in between games, and for game 3 on Thursday he was wearing a transparent protective mask.

Booker was on court for just 40 minutes, and scored only 15 points as his team saw their nine-game winning run come to an end when the Clippers beat them 106-92. Booker is an integral part of the Phoenix team that has played so well this season. All NBA fans will be wishing him a speedy recovery, while Phoenix Suns will be praying Booker gets his A-Game back by game 5 at the latest.

LA Clippers Form

Can the LA Clippers do the unthinkable and for a third time recover from a 0-2 down deficit to win a series during these playoffs? They did just that against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Playoffs first round, coming through 4-3, then did it again in the semifinals against the Utah Jazz, winning 4-2.

Now once again they have lost the first two games, this time vs the Phoenix Suns, and then won game 3 on Thursday 106-92 to put themselves back in the series. Key to the Clippers success this year has been the points provided by leading scorer Kawhi Leonard and strike partner Paul George. Now that Phoenix star Devin Booker’s own points scoring is hampered by a broken nose, the Clippers latest comeback looks set to continue.

Verdict

The LA Clippers capacity for bouncing back from a two-match deficit looks set to continue for a third straight series, at least for another game or two. The Phoenix Suns MVP Devin Booker’s broken nose was a major factor in the Clippers 106-92 win on Thursday, and the Suns need their main man firing on all cylinders for their quest for a maiden NBA Championship to continue.

The LA Clippers are also looking to reach the NBA Championship Finals and win their first title, and I’m backing them to level this series at 2-2 with a victory over Phoenix on Sunday. The Clippers will win by at least ten points in a matchup that will feature around 220 points in total.
