Memphis Grizzlies @ Golden State Warriors Live Stream & Tips

The Memphis Grizzlies will play the Golden State Warriors in the final Western Conference Play-in game on Friday, May 21. This matchup features the winners of the 10th vs 9th game – Memphis - against the losers of the 7th vs 8th game – Golden State – with the winner of this match progressing to the NBA Playoffs as eighth seeds.

On Thursday, Golden State were defeated by the LA Lakers 103-100, while Memphis beat the San Antonio Spurs 100-96. Both of these matches were cagey, tactical affairs, resulting in two low scoring and extremely close games. Unlike regular playoff matchups that are played out over the best of seven games, these were one-off matches, and the stakes involved are huge.

These teams played each other three times in 2021, with the Warriors finishing 2-1 up. Ironically, they faced each other on the final day of the regular season, with Golden State winning 113-101, and Steph Curry scoring 46 points.

I’m backing the Warriors to defeat the Grizzlies again on Friday by a similar scoreline, based off this result, plus my opinion that the warriors are a “big match” team, and this is exactly that, a Big Match.

  • Golden State 8th in Western Conference
  • Golden State 39-33 this season
  • Grizzlies 9th in Western Conference
  • Grizzlies 38-34 this season

Head to Head

The Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors have played each other 95 times in regular-season NBA games, with the Warriors currently leading their head-to-head by 50 wins to 45. In their 10 most recent matches over the past three seasons, Golden State lead Memphis 6-4. These teams played each other three times in 2021 with the score 2-1 to the Warriors. Their last match came in May in their last game of the season, with Golden Sate winning 113-101.

Golden State Warriors Form

Golden State are one of the most successful teams in NBA history with six championships, three won in the past decade, in 2015, 2017 and 2018. The lynchpin in all those wins is Steph Curry, and at 32, he is still the Warriors no.1 player today. In 2021 Curry topped Golden State’s regular season scoring stats once again with a 32 point average.

On Thursday, even when his team were heartbreakingly pipped at the post by the LA Lakers 103-100, Steph Curry was the top scorer on the court with 37 points. Golden State will require another performance like that from Curry on Friday, and will also need the likes of Draymond Green (no.1 for rebounds, assists and blocks), Anthony Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr to step up if they wish to progress to the playoffs.

Memphis Grizzlies Form

The Memphis Grizzlies finished second in the Western Conference Southwest Division, behind the Dallas Mavericks. The Grizzlies won 38 games and lost 34, finishing the regular season with a 0.528 win percentage. Had the Grizzlies won just a couple more games, they would have edged out the Mavericks and claimed their first ever NBA trophy.

The Grizzlies have lacked a high points’ scorer this season, and have relied on Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks and the hulking 7’ tall, 265lb Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas for points, with each finishing top scorer multiple times. On Thursday it was Brookes who shone with 24 points, as the Grizzlies mauled San Antonio to a 100-96 defeat.

Where can I watch a Golden State Warriors @ LA Grizzlies live stream?

Our live streaming calendar shows you where you can watch a Golden State Warriors @ LA Grizzlies live stream

Both the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors go in to this decisive Western Conference Play-in game off the back of low scoring and extremely close games on Thursday. While the Grizzlies may have won their match over San Antonio, and the Warriors lost to the Lakers, both games could have gone either way.
Based off their “Big Match” experience and the fact that the Warriors beat the Grizzlies last week, I’m backing Golden State to defeat Memphis on Friday by ten points or less, in a matchup that will feature around 220 points or under.
