Los Angeles Lakers @ Sacramento Kings Tips

The LA Lakers take on the Sacramento Kings in a Western Conference NBA regular season game on Friday, March 2. This will be the second time the Lakers and the Kings have met this season; on March 4 Sacramento defeated LA by three points 123-120 in a thrilling, see-saw encounter. The Lakers dominated the first and third quarters, but the Kings hit back in the second and fourth to edge the game.

Can Sacramento repeat that victory on Friday? Los Angeles go into this game after losing to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday 112-97, and are clearly missing the injured superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Sacramento go into Friday’s game having won seven of their last nine, although they were well beaten by San Antonio on Thursday 120-106.

I’m backing Sacramento to take full advantage of a Lakers team that are lacking cohesion, and win convincingly by at least ten points.

  • Lakers 4th in Pacific Division
  • Lakers current NBA Champions
  • Kings bottom of Pacific Division
  • Kings 22-26 this season

Head to Head

The LA Lakers and the Sacramento Kings have played each other 435 times in regular-season NBA games. The Lakers currently lead their head-to-head by 277 wins to 158. In 10 matches since the start of the 2018 season, the Lakers have won 6 and the Kings 4. In their most recent meeting in March of this year, Sacramento edged LA 123-120.

LA Lakers Form

The Lakers are the reigning NBA Champions, and currently third in the Pacific Division with a record of 30-18 for a 0.625 win percentage. The Lakers are 5-5 in their last ten matches, but the harsh reality is LA have lost five of their last seven games. There is a real worry that the Lakers – who were lacking consistency when LeBron James and Anthony Davis were playing – will now crash and burn now that James and Davis are both out injured.

The Lakers were certainly well beaten by the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday 112-97 (a result that bets.com.au called 100%) and are not the force they normally are when James is scoring points and Davis is doing his thing as the best Power Forward in the NBA. Clearly the likes of Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma need to step up.

Sacramento Kings Form

The Sacramento Kings are currently bottom of the Pacific Division, with a record of 22 wins and 26 defeats for a 0.458 win percentage. Poor as their record might seem, it is vastly improved on a few weeks ago, and would be good enough for a mid-table spot in a couple of divisions in the NBA right now. Unfortunately for the Kings, they share a division with the LA duo of the Lakers and Clippers, plus this season’s surprise package the Phoenix Suns, currently top of the table.

Prior to their last meeting with the Lakers, Sacramento had won just one of their previous 10 games, and had also lost their most recent outing to Charlotte. However, the Kings beat the Lakers, as we at bets.com.au had forecast. This time around, Sacramento are in great shape – going 7-1 before losing their most recent outing to san Antonio on Thursday.

Verdict

When the LA Lakers and the Sacramento Kings clashed in early March, Sacramento were in poor shape yet still won. This time around their roles are reversed, with the Kings 7-2 and the Lakers 2-5 recently. Worse still for LA, they are lacking their two best players till the end of April at the earliest.

I’m backing Sacramento to defeat the Lakers on Friday, based off each team’s current form and the turmoil in the Lakers camp right now. The Kings will win this game by ten points or more in a match that will feature around 220 points in total.
