LA Clippers @ New Orleans Pelicans Tips

The LA Clippers take on the New Orleans Pelicans in an NBA Western Conference regular season game on Tuesday, April 27. This will be the third time these two teams have played each other this season; the Clippers won their first meeting back in January, 111-106, while New Orleans scored a decisive 135-115 win in March, a 20-point margin of victory.

The LA Clippers are currently third in the Western Conference, behind leaders the Utah Jazz and second placed Phoenix Suns. The New Orleans Pelicans are 11th in the Western Conference, just outside the playoff places. However, with just 12 games left to play for New Orleans and at least five wins to make up, they may have left it too late.

Just as they did last year, the LA Clippers are having a phenomenal season, and quite rightly are one of the bookies favorites to win the NBA championships. They are currently on a four-game winning streak, and I’m backing the Clippers to make that five-straight wins on Tuesday. Read on to find out how and why.

  • Clippers 3rd in Western Conference
  • Clippers 43-19 this season
  • Pelicans 11th in Western Conference
  • Pelicans 26-34 this season

Head to Head

The LA Clippers and the New Orleans Pelicans have played each other a total of 63 times, with New Orleans currently leading their head-to-head by 33 wins to 30. Over the past three seasons, these two teams have played each other nine times, with LA leading 5-4. The Clippers and the Pelicans have met twice this season, with LA winning 111-106 in January, and New Orleans getting revenge in March 135-115.

LA Clippers Form

The LA Clippers amazing season continues to roll on. In 2020 the Clippers finished second in the Western Conference to their illustrious neighbors the LA Lakers, and went on to lose to Denver in the playoffs. This year they are poised to do even better, with a stronger team that is full of the kind of confidence that only comes from winning regularly. The Clippers are currently on a run of just one defeat in their last 12 games.

Los Angeles have won their last four matches on the bounce, but were less than convincing on Saturday, defeating the Houston Rockets by just five points – 109-104. Outstanding for the Clippers was that night was Paul George, who scored 33 points as well as grabbing 14 high rebounds. George has finished as the Clippers’ top scorer in four of their last five matches, yet the second overall to Kawhi Leonard for Los Angeles this season.

New Orleans Pelicans Form

Last season the New Orleans pelicans finished 13th in the Western Conference, so if nothing else they are on course for a higher placing than they achieved in 2020. However, the Pelicans will be only too aware that had they not lost five of their last six games, they would be in better shape to make a late push for a playoff spot. Even more frustrating is the fact that four of those defeats were so close they could have gone either way.

As it stands, New Orleans are 4-6 in their last 10 matches, and their most recent win came on Friday, April 23 when they defeated the Orlando Magic 135-108. 20-year-old Zion Williamson has been outstanding for the Pelicans this season, averaging 27 points per game, and often scoring big even in defeat. For example, in recent losses to New York, Brooklyn and San Antonio, Williamson has still scored 34-33 and 33 points respectively.

Our live streaming calendar shows you where you can watch a New Orleans Pelicans @ LA Clippers live stream

The New Orleans Pelicans were only founded in 2002, which is why they and the LA Clippers have played each other just 63 times. Surprisingly, the Pelicans have the edge in that head-to-head by 33 wins to 30. Even during this season, despite the gulf between them in the Western Conference, they are tied at one win apiece.

However, I’m backing the Clippers to break that deadlock on Tuesday with a convincing win. Los Angeles will take this game by a margin of at least 10 points in a high-scoring matchup that will feature around 230 points.
