Dallas Mavericks @ LA Clippers Live Stream & Tips

The Dallas Mavericks will take on the LA Clippers on Wednesday, May 26 in the second game of their NBA Playoffs First Round series. In their opening match on Saturday, Dallas beat LA 113-103, with star player Luka Doncic scoring 31 points for the Mavericks. Overall, it was Dallas’s third win in four matches against the Clippers this season.

Going into Saturday’s game, the LA Clippers were the fourth seeds, while the Dallas Mavericks were seeded fifth. In terms of recent form however, the Clippers had lost three of their last five regular season games, including the final two, while the Mavericks went 9-3 in their last twelve matches. On the night, the Clippers struggled to cope with the powerful game of Luka Doncic, and Dallas edged all four quarters of the match for the victory.

I’m backing the Dallas Mavericks to win again on Wednesday with a similarly dominant performance, taking a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series.

  • Clippers finished 4th in Western Conference
  • Clippers 47-25 this season
  • Mavericks finished 5th in Western Conference
  • Mavericks 42-30 this season

Head to Head

The Dallas Mavericks and the LA Clippers have played each other a total of 162 times, with Dallas currently leading their head-to-head by 95 wins to 67. These two teams have played each other 10 times over the past three seasons, with LA leading 6-4. The Clippers and the Mavericks have met three times this season, with Dallas having a 2-1 edge, winning their final regular season game 105-89 in March. In their first playoff match, the Mavericks were victorious 113-103.

Dallas Mavericks Form

The Dallas Mavericks are one of the newer teams in the NBA, and were founded 40-years ago in 1980. The Mavericks won their only NBA Championship in 2011. This year Dallas finished 5th in the Western Conference and 1st in the WC Southwest Division, their first such title since 2010. In three regular season games with the LA Clippers, Dallas led 2-1, winning their last game in March 105-89.

The Mavericks defeated the Clippers 113-103 in their Western Conference Playoffs First Round opening game. As this is a best-of-seven series, Dallas need three more wins to progress to the next round, while the Clippers need four. The winner of this series will take on the winners of the series between Utah and Memphis in the second round.

LA Clippers Form

The LA Clippers are still waiting for their first NBA Championship victory. For much of the 2021 regular season, they played like potential championship winners. Unfortunately, their form tailed off toward the end, and they lost three of their last five matches, including their final two games. The Clippers compiled a regular season record of 47 wins against 25 defeats. They finished fourth in the Western Conference, and second in the WC Pacific Division behind the Phoenix Suns.

In their opening game of the playoffs, the Clippers lost to the Dallas Mavericks 113-103. The Clippers found it hard to contain the Mavericks’ star player Luka Doncic, who hit 31 points. The harsh reality was that even though the margins were small, Dallas outscored LA in all four quarters of this game, and the Clippers will need to galvanize themselves if they want to make this series competitive.

Verdict

Many experts have been calling Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks the best player in the NBA right now, and this year’s MVP. Certainly, the Clippers found it hard to contain the 6’7” 235 pound Slovenian who is still only 22-years old, and he finished as the game’s top scorer with 31 points.

I’m backing Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks to put on a similar performance on Wednesday, this time winning by at least 10 points in a matchup that will feature 220 points or less.
