Brooklyn Nets @ Phoenix Suns Tips - Suns too bright for Brooklyn

Two of the top teams in their respective conferences face off on Wednesday when the Brooklyn Nets - 3rd in the Eastern Conference - are guests of the Phoenix Suns, currently fourth in the Western Conference. Both teams are chasing a playoff spot, so both will be gunning for victory. 

Key to this match could be Phoenix shooting guard Devin Booker. Booker is in superb form right now, and has scored 27 points or more in his last four games. 

I see Booker as being a big factor in the Suns winning this game. Another major factor is how the teams from the Western Conference are dominating the NBA League. The Suns simply play their basketball in a better conference full of stronger teams than Brooklyn, and that will show on Wednesday. Phoenix will beat the Nets by ten points or more. 

The Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns have played each other 90 times, and the Phoenix Suns currently lead their head-to-head 46-44. In their last six meetings, Brooklyn have won six and lost two. In their most recent meeting in February 2020 the Nets won 119-97.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently second in the Atlantic Division behind the Philadelphia 76ers, and third in the Eastern Conference, behind leaders Philadelphia and the Milwaukee Bucks. 

The Nets have won 17 games and lost 12 for a .586 average. Brooklyn will be keen to get that win percentage up somewhat to strengthen their chances of a playoff place.  

Brooklyn have won their last three matches, most recently Tuesday’s high-scoring 136-125 win over the Sacramento Kings. Standout players for the Nets this season have been 32-year old modern great Kevin Durant with a 29-point average, Joe Harris, Kyrie Irving and James Harden.

Phoenix are third in the Pacific Division behind the LA duo of the Lakers and the Clippers. Phoenix are fourth in the Western Conference, behind table-toppers the Utah Jazz, the Lakers and the Clippers. 

Phoenix have won 17 games and lost 9 for a .654 average. While the Suns are fourth in the NBA League and look a shoe-in for a playoff spot, they are only too aware that a string of bad results would see their position plummet. 

Phoenix are enjoying their best run of form of the season right now. Monday’s 109-90 win over the Orlando Magic was their sixth straight, and they are 9-1 in their last 10 games. 

Standout players for the Suns this season have been top scorer Devin Booker with a 24-point average, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton.
