Michigan have knocked off two top 25 teams on their away to the Sweet Sixteen in March Madness.

The Wolverines and the regular season in inconsistent form and had a miserable showing in the conference tournament, going ‘one and done’.

They have been anything but disappointing so far in the national championship tournament.

Michigan opened with a 75-63 victory over Colorado State in the first round, and then topped that last time out.

The Wolverines booked their place in the Sweet Sixteen with a 76-68 win over #5 Tennessee.

Hunter Dickinson was the star of the show for as he racked up 27 points and 11 rebounds in a double double.

Eli Brooks also shot over 60% from the field as he contributed 23 points for Michigan.

Villanova Form

Villanova stumbled a couple of times late in the regular season, but they have been dominant since then.

The Wildcats downed St John’s (NY), #20 Connecticut and Creighton on their way to winning the Big East conference tournament.

They then made a comfortable start to March Madness by blowing out Delaware, 80-60, in the first round.

Villanova faced a tougher test in the form of Ohio State in round two, but it was a test they passed with flying colors.

The Wildcats poured in 39 first-half points and never looked back on their way to a 71-61 win.

Collin Gillespie led the team in scoring with 20 points despite not being an efficient shooter in the matchup.

Jermaine Samuels did not struggle with his shooting however – he shot 78% from the field as he registered 17 points to go along with eight rebounds.
