The Western Bulldogs hosts West Coast at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on Sunday with the Eagles looking to overcome their struggles in Queensland this season.

West Coast seem to struggle in Queensland, with only class getting them over the line last week against the Dons. They now return to Metricon, the same stadium where the Eagles lost to Richmond two rounds ago.

The Dogs come into the game having won two of their last five, but were not beaten by much against Geelong last week.

Western Bulldogs Form & Team News

The Dogs were very good against the Cats last week with Aaron Naughton being a target down forward and Lachie Hunter dominating the midfield. But they were just beaten by the better side in the final quarter.

Easton Wood and Laitham Vandermeer will both miss this week due to hamstring injuries suffered against Geelong, with the latter not expected back for the season.

Zaine Cordy is likely to find his way into the side after dominating a scratch match last week.

West Coast Form & Team News

West Coast are the benchmark side in the competition when they play in Perth, but do seem to drop a little when playing in Queensland particularly.

Now we know that the Grand Final will be played in Brisbane, they Eagles need to improve if they are to be in the premiership decider come October 24.

In saying that, they did beat Essendon last week (unconvincingly), but the Bombers are known to show up one week and not the next so they may have been playing some of their better footy.

If they can win here and win convincingly (five goals plus) then they are right back up there as favourites to be winning this flag.

Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Head To Head

West Coast have won the last three clashes, and all by big margins of no less than 51 points.

They have not played the Bulldogs in Queensland though which brings the Dogs back into the match. But there is still some improvement needed from the Kennel if they are to beat the Eagles.

Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Betting Odds

The Eagles are the favourites at $1.60 while the Dogs are $2.35 to be winning.

The line has been set for the Eagles at -7.5.

Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Match Up

The key match up here looks between Jeremy McGovern and Aaron Naughton.

Naughton is quickly coming of age, being the major target down forward for the Dogs as well as putting the scores on the boar. He has kicked eight goals between his last two appearances.

McGovern is arguably the best defender in the league, always taking clutch marks rather than going in for the spoil.

He is the type of backman that can win the Eagles matches rather than just saving them.

Both players will have their work cut out as they are both in form.

Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Key Stats

  • Brad Shepard averages seven marks per game.
  • Marcus Bontempelli averages five tackles per game.
