Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne Tips

Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne contest the last fixture of Round 16.

Following an after the siren loss to the Cats in Geelong, the Bulldogs were devastating last Sunday against the Eagles, winning by 55 points in Perth and it should've been a bigger margin.

While North Melbourne are a much more competitive outfit to the one that were belted by the Bulldogs on Good Friday, it's hard to see them troubling Luke Beveridge's men this Sunday.

  • The Western Bulldogs have the highest percentage in the competition and lead the AFL this season for points per game, goal assists per game and clearances per game
  • North Melbourne have lost their last 9 games at Marvel Stadium
  • Six of the Bulldogs last 7 games at Marvel Stadium have gone over the total match points line
  • North Melbourne's Cameron Zurhaar has kicked two goals in each of his last four matches

Head to Head

From their last 10 clashes, the Bulldogs lead the head to head battle 7-3 over North Melbourne.

The Western Bulldogs defeated North Melbourne by a whopping 128 points in Round 3 this season, which was the last game between these two sides.

Western Bulldogs Form

With key injuries in Round 14 and the Cats chancing their arm in a winning end-to-end move via the last minute, the Bulldogs can consider themselves unlucky not to be on top of the ladder.

They were able to dust themselves off though, travelling west to belt a full strength Eagles in Perth last Sunday. Given they kicked 13.20, that could've easily have been an 80-90 point win.

With Geelong, Brisbane and Port Adelaide hot on their heels in pursuit of a top two spot, they can't be dropping this and while their percentage is already very healthy, they can give it a further boost here.

Western Bulldogs Team News

Key defender Ryan Gardiner injured his shoulder against the Eagles and will miss around 6-8 weeks.

Talented young back Lewis Young now gets his chance and is he replaces Gardiner in the 22.

North Melbourne Form

After looking long odds to even win a game this season, North Melbourne have improved and their defence is starting to hold up better, conceding only nine goals in each of their last two games.

Back to Melbourne and facing the Bulldogs at Marvel is a completely different beast, and that was all too evident in Round 3 with an 128-point thumping dealt out by the red, white and blue on Good Friday.

While 120-point plus defeats aren't common and this appears a little unlikely to go to those levels again, the developing Kangaroos would be stoked if they keep this loss under 10 goals.

North Melbourne Team News

Defender Kyron Hayden has been included in the North Melbourne 22 to face the Bulldogs this Sunday.

Atu Bosenavulagi (Medi-Sub) and ex-Bulldog Lachie Young (Omitted) make way.
