The Dogs host the Demons at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon, where both sides are still looking Finals hopes if they can score the win.

Melbourne have won three matches on the trot, but do have a tendency to drop their form quicker than you can blink.

The Dogs are super inconsistent, but did bounce back in fine fashion against Adelaide after losing  three in a row.

Western Bulldogs Form & Team News

Having lost three in a row prior to round 12, they needed the confidence boosting win against Adelaide which they did get.

We saw Aaron Naughton kick a career high six goals while disappointingly for the Dogs, Tim English did go down with an injury, leaving them without a main ruckman.

We are expecting Josh Dunkley to be the man to take the ruck, especially as Melbourne are left without a ruckman as well.

Melbourne Form & Team News

They have won three on the trot, albeit against the two bottom sides and a depleted Collingwood side, but a win is a win.

They have been competitive with the Dogs in the past, so the confidence from their recent wins and a few recent performances against them will do them the world of good.

They will be without either of their main ruckman, which leaves Tom McDonald for those duties.

Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne Head To Head

The Dogs have won two of their last three clashes, including their last where they met in July last year.

When Melbourne have beaten the Dogs, the margins have been big, so if we are seeing a tight match heading into the second-half, I expect the Bulldogs to come out on top.

Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne Betting Odds

Melbourne are the hard favourites at $1.71 while the Dogs are $2.15 outsiders.

The line has been set for the Bulldogs at +5.5.

Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne Match Up

The key match up here could be between Bailey Smith and Christian Petracca.

Petracca has asserted himself this season as one of the games best players, while Smith is only in his second year, yet shows the composure as if he has been playing for 10 years.

Both are hard nuts in the contest and have terrific strength in contested situation, which is what sees them both dominate games.

Petracca probably has that little bit of finesse which will come in time for Smith, but while there is a contest, expect a battle royale between the two.
