Western Bulldogs vs Gold Coast Suns Tips

The Bulldogs are biting and roaring their way through the 2021 competition and look almost unstoppable. They now have a chance to recharge at home and face undermanned Suns squad looking to get back on the winner’s table. A one-sided affair is tipped.

  • Western Bulldogs are undefeated in season 2021 with a 4-0 record.
  • Western Bulldogs have won 9 of the 12 matches against the Gold Coast Suns.
  • Gold Coast Suns have lost their last 2 matches, and their last 6 away matches.
  • Gold Coast Suns have won 5 out of 22 matches at Marvel Stadium.

Head to Head

The Bulldogs have a great record against the Suns, winning nine of their 12 meetings. The Bulldogs beat the Suns by five points at Metricon Stadium last season.

The two teams will face each other for only the third time at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, with both teams claiming one match a piece.

Western Bulldogs Form

The undefeated Western Bulldogs sit on top of the ladder with a huge percentage advantage to start the season.

The Bulldogs are leading the disposals tally and average as well as being second in total goals per game only behind the also undefeated Sydney Swans.

The Bulldogs took out early premiership favourites Brisbane Lions convincingly at Mars Stadium, beating them 73-54 last Saturday.

Notable in-form players include midfielder Jack Macrae and Josh Bruce. Macrae is averaging over 35 disposals while the last time Bruce played at Marvel Stadium, he notched 10 goals.

Gold Coast Suns Form

Gold Coast Suns came up short against the Carlton Blues last round at home.

It is no secret that the Suns are down in star power for the foreseeable future as they look to gather themselves over the recent loss of their ruckman and captain Jarrod Witts.

The Suns are improving and are in the top five for the majority of midfield and defensive focused statistics, however they are in the bottom three in goals scored per game.

Hugh Greenwood had a great match against the Blues, gaining 27 disposals and 10 tackles. Greenwood is leading the competition in tackles, followed by teammate Touk Miller.

Gold Coast Suns Team News

Another injury was sustained on the weekend with forward Sean Lemmens missing Saturday's match due to concussion precautions.

Charlie Ballard is ruled out through injury, but Jack Hombsch is fit to return as the Suns will need height and leadership against the Bulldogs.

The AFL world is still waiting for any information on the return of star Matt Rowell.
