West Coast Eagles host Collingwood at Optus Stadium on Saturday in what is expected to be a tight elimination final.

West Coast are expecting a lot of stars back from injury, but you cannot help think they will not be at full strength as those players could very easily have missed another week had it not been for finals.

Collingwood have not lived up to their expectations this season. They are a great travelling side but will need to be at their best to beat West Coast at their home ground.

West Coast Form & Team News

West Coast are one of the best home sides in the competition and will take a stack of beating if they are at their best. They finished fifth on the ladder after wins over St Kilda and North Melbourne to finish the season.

When back home, there are very few sides in the competition that can stop them. Will home advantage extinguish the threat of Collingwood, one of their biggest rivals in recent years, knocking them out?

Players such as Kennedy, McGovern, Redden, Jetta and Hutchings are all still carrying little niggling injuries, which could give the opposition the jump.

The West Coast team is below:

B: T.Cole, T.Barrass, B.Sheppard
HB: S.Hurn, J.McGovern, L.Duggan
C: J.Redden, T.Kelly, A.Gaff
HF: J.Cripps, J.Darling, J.Waterman
F: O.Allen, J.Kennedy, L.Ryan
FOLL: N.Naitanui, D.Sheed, L.Shuey
I/C: J.Petruccelle, J.Nelson, B.Ainsworth, B.Ah Chee

Collingwood Form & Team News

Collingwood have been bitterly disappointing this season, starting off well before dropping matches to the likes of Essendon, GWS, Fremantle and Melbourne.

This is a side though that we should never lose faith in, especially around finals time with big game players scattered all through the side.

They are renowned to being the best travelling side in the competition, and although their last clash with the Eagles at this venue was one to forget, they will take confidence in their own ability and some of the glimpses of brilliance they have shown throughout the season.

The Collingwood team is below:

B: J.Crisp, J.Roughead, J.Madgen
HB: B.Maynard, D.Moore, I.Quaynor
C: C.Mayne, A.Treloar, J.Daicos
HF: W.Hoskin-Elliott, B.Mihocek, L.Greenwood,
F: J.Elliott, M.Cox, J.De Goey
FOLL: B.Grundy, T.Adams, S.Pendlebury
I/C: J.Stephenson, J.Noble, J.Thomas, D.Cameron

West Coast vs Collingwood Head To Head

The recent head to head record sits in favour of West Coast, winning four of their last five clashes, including the 2018 Grand Final. This year, the scoreboard read 111-45 in favour of West Coast.

Collingwood are going to need to bring their A-game, but during finals, we can expect the best from them.

West Coast vs Collingwood Betting Odds

West Coast are short priced favourites to be beating Collingwood at $1.45, while the Pies do look good value at $2.75.

The line has been set for West Coast at -12.5.

West Coast vs Collingwood Match Up

The key match up of this match will be between Jack Darling and Darcy Moore.

Moore is an All Australian defender while Darling is one of the strongest key forwards in the competition.

For Collingwood to stay in this match, Moore needs to have a big game and to limit Darling's influence off the half-forward line.

Without a tall presence on the half-forward line, this causes a bit more chaos for the West Coast forwards as every kick in has to go from midfield to full-forward, giving defenders time to set up.

West Coast vs Collingwood Key Stats

  • Jack Darling has kicked 2+ goals in his last four matches at Optus Stadium
  • Josh Kennedy has kicked 2+ goals in five of his last six matches at Optus Stadium
  • Mason Cox has kicked 2 goals in three of his last four matches
