St Kilda vs Melbourne Demons Tips

Both teams kicked off the season exactly how they would have wanted to with wins. St Kilda recorded a thrilling win of the GWS Giants while Melbourne Demons toyed with Fremantle Dockers at home.

Focus on the match total, with St Kilda reliable on delivering overs.

  • St Kilda and Melbourne both won their opening round matches.
  • St Kilda have seen 5 of their last 6 matches go over the total match points line.

Head to Head

Of their last five clashes, Melbourne have won two and St Kilda have won three. Last year's meeting went the way of the Demons by three points.

There has not been a heap seperate these two sides with two of their last four matches being decided within a three point margin.

St Kilda Form

In coming from behind to beat GWS Giants 86-78 last week, St Kilda showed how tough they really are. Just like last year, they are a team to watch as they progress through the season.

Players such as Tim Membrey and Jack Billings stood up down forward, while the likes of Jack Steele, who had a breakout season last year, will improve greatly from the outing.

If Saints can get their second win here, they will set themselves up well for the first half of the season. They are a side which improves as they showed last season when returning to the finals arena.

St Kilda Team News

Max King is named to face the Melbourne Demons which will be a big plus to their already strong forward line.

Zak Jones also returns and add some grunt to their midfield.

Paddy Ryder is the missing link for the Saints. He is currently on indefinite leave, but the club are hopeful that he can return for round four.

Melbourne Demons Form

There were doubts over the Demons going into last week's open, but they beat they beat the Fremantle Dockers comfortably 80-58 and fully deserved the win.

Christian Petracca was dominant as usual, while Kossy Picket looked dangerous down forward. If he is half as good as his old man, Melbourne have themselves a little gun.

They now meet St Kilda at Marvel Stadium which is not a ground that suits their wide running game style. If they are on their game, they do have the class in their side to overcome those question marks?

Melbourne Demons Team News

Melbourne make one change with Jack Viney back into the side after getting through their VFL match unscathed.

Michael Hibberd and Jake Melksham are named among the emergencies.

Ben Brown and Sam Weideman, arguably two of their best forwards, are still three to five weeks away.
