After a shoulder injury ended Matt Rowell's 2020 season, the Gold Coast’s up and coming star has opened $1.40 favourite to be crowned the 2021 AFL Rising Star after Tuesday's draft.
Rowell was also the favourite to win the award at the start of the 2020 season, but having looked every little bit of one of the best players in the league, including leading the Brownlow after four rounds, a shoulder injury in round five against Geelong brought him to a halt.
The young man is eligible for the 2021 Rising Star as he will be aged 20 or under on January 1 (Rowell turns 20 on July 1 next year) and has played ten or fewer AFL games.
Tom Green, who played six games for GWS in 2020, is a $9 chance along with the 2020No.1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan from the Western Bulldogs.
Adelaide's Riley Thilthorpe, the No.2 pick, is an $11 hope ahead of No.3 pick Will Phillips (North Melbourne) and No.5 pick Braeden Campbell (Sydney) who are both $15 chances in the market.
