Gold Coast Suns suffered a blow to their final hopes after heartbreaking draw with Essendon Bombers on Wednesday. Ben King levelled the scoress with two minutes remaining and team-mate Izak Rankine had the chance to win it after the siren. But he blew his chance to be a hero, dragging his set shot from 50m wide.
It is now four games without a win for the Suns, who are bidding to make the finals for the first time. Before the draw with the Dons, their positive start to the season had been undone following successive defeats to the Western Bulldogs, GWS Giants and St Kilda.
