Port Adelaide Power vs GWS Giants Tips

The Port Adelaide Power fell to a heavy 123-75 loss at the hands of the Brisbane Lions in the Qualifying Finals but now get the double chance in the semi-finals.

The GWS Giants eliminated the St Kilda Saints in an assured 101-77 win in their Elimination Final last week, but now face an almighty task in Adelaide.

Head To Head

The Power hammered the Giants 136-85 when they met back in August, with this their fourth win in a row over the Giants. In their last 10, the Power have won five times, while the Giants have also won five times.

Port Adelaide Power Form

The Port Adelaide Power were never really in their Qualifying Final with the Brisbane Lions as they were humbled in a 123-75 defeat at the Gabba.

This loss ended a run of three wins in a row at the end of the home and away season.

The defeat showed that despite finishing with the same amount of points as the Lions in the home and away season, the Power are some-way behind them on the field.

Port Adelaide Power Team News

The Power are without both Jeremy Finlayson and  DylanWilliams with the pair omitted as Charlie Dixon is brought in.

F: Byrne-Jones, Dixon, Powell-Pepper
FOL: Lycett, Wines, Rozee
EMG: Williams, Finlayson, Evans, Hayes

GWS Giants Form

The GWS Giants secured their place in the finals with two big wins over the Essendon Bombers (162-36) and the Carlton Blues (105-73) before they hammered St Kilda 101-77 last weekend in the Elimination Final.

Their string of wins in which they have scored 100 points or more has been very impressive, but they will likely see scoring opportunities curtailed this week against a very strong Power side.

If they are to win this one then they will need a large amount of luck, especially if they are to end a run of four defeats in a row at the hands of the Power.

GWS Giants Team News

Xavier O'Halloran is omitted, meaning Stephen Coniglio comes in for the Giants.

Verdict

I am backing the Power to win this one as they bounce back from their heavy defeat to the Lions with a vital win.
