Brisbane Lions vs Sydney Swans Predictions
We finally get to see new Lions recruit Joe Daniher when points are up for grabs, and could have a big first hit out. Sydney come into 2021 off a poor season and will need to be a lot better than last season to match it with the Lions.
- Brisbane Lions finished second on the ladder last season.
- Brisbane Lions have won the last 2 matches against Sydney Swans.
- The bookmaker favourites have won the last 10 matches between the Lions and Swans.
- Sydney Swans finished third from bottom last season.
Head-to-Head
From their last five clashes, Brisbane Lions have won their last two while Sydney Swans have three victories.
However, Brisbane have dominated the last two matches and are expected to do so again to kick off Round 1 with a win.
Brisbane Lions Form
Finishing second on the ladder and making a preliminary final is short of what the Brisbane Lions will be wanting to achieve this season.
That's what they achieved last season, but with their eyes are set firmly on a flag with the addition of Joe Daniher to the forward line.
The Lions got off to a slow start against the Gold Coast Suns in the Community Series pre-season match, but were too classy in the end with the likes of Charlie Cameron down forward kicking goals in a 117-89 win.
If the forward line is up and running, Brisbane have the potential to win this by six or seven goals.
Brisbane Lions Team News
Cam Rayner has undergone knee surgery after his ACL injury and will be out for the season.
Darcy Gardiner and Noah Answerth will play in the seconds this week while Nakia Cockatoo will undergo a test to play in the seconds.

Sydney Swans Form
Sydney finished off the 2020 season third from bottom on the ladder, far from what may have been the ambition at the start of the campaign
The Swans recorded five wins overall and were were blown out of the park on occasions.
But Sydney will take heart that they were competitive for much of the season, and will now bid to add more points to their performances.
With the likes of Nick Blakey having another season under his belt and with Tom Papley dangerous in the forward line, they have some class to better the 2020 points haul.
But having lost their Community Series game 114-86 to GWS Giants, they shouldn't trouble the Lions first up.
Sydney Swans Team News
Callum Mills and Jake Lloyd will be both right to play against the Lions.
Sydney Swans will be at full strength with the exception of Lance Franklin, who still has a question mark hanging over him.
