Hawthorn vs Melbourne Demons Tips

Melbourne Demons have won their opening four rounds of the season, while Hawthorn could easily be 0-4 for the season. The ponits should be heading in the Dees' direction.

Hawthorn are not travelling well at all, with just the one win for the season against Essendon. They trailed by eight goals during that match before winning late. Expect another troubled afternoon with Jake Viney playing a starring role.

  • Melbourne Demons are undefeated in 2021 with a 4-0 record.
  • Melbourne Demons have won their last 3 clashes against Hawthorn.
  • Melbourne Demons' Jack Viney has recorded 27 or more disposals against Hawthorn in 3 of his last 4 matches.
  • Hawthorn have lost their last 3 matches.

Head to Head

From their last five clashes, Melbourne lead the count 3-2 after winning their last three clashes. Two of them were by big margins.

It has now been three years since the Hawks have beaten the Dees.

Hawthorn Form

Hawthorn have lost three in a row since recording a narrow victory over Essendon Bombers in Round 1.

It does not seem like that are going are performing badly with only 15 and five point losses in their last two matches, but the Hawks just do not have the firepower to be able to win matches.

Jack Gunston is one player who makes the world of difference, but with him still out they lack a star forward who can kick four or five goals in back-to-back matches.

Having lost to Richmond Tigers, Geelong Cats and Fremantle Dockers in the last three weeks, the Hawks are in a world of trouble.

Hawthorn Team News

Daniel Howe's shoulder knock suffered last week against the Dockers doesn't keep him out of this one.

Mitch Lewis is suspended and Jonathan Cegler has been dropped by the Hawks. Tyler Brockman has been rested.

Conor Nash has been named for his first appearance of the season, while Jacob Koschitzke and Ollie Hanrahan also come into the starting line-up.

Melbourne Demons Form

For the first time in almost 30 years, Melbourne have won their opening four rounds of the season and will look to remain one of three teams who are undefeated in the competition.

Melbourne fans will be sitting back pretty pleased with their clubs efforts thus far into the season.

They scored a great 85-60 win over the Geelong Cats last week to add to victories over Fremantle Dockers, St Kilda and GWS Giants in the opening four weeks.

Verdict

It is hard to see the Hawks turning things around against a Demons side they have not beaten in a while and a side who is unbeaten in the first four rounds.

With little value on the Dees, Jack Viney is tipped to lead his side to victory with 25+ touches.
