Hawthorn vs Adelaide Crows Tips

AFL will be played in Tasmania for the first time since pre-covid, at UTAS Stadium where Hawthorn have dominated at in recent times.

The Hawks have won 34 of their last 39 matches there, but this Hawthorn side is a lot different to the one that was actually leading teh competition for seven or eight years.

Adelaide come into the match after suffering their second loss of the season to Fremantle, but overall they did not play poor footy and can certainly bounce back this week. At the price on offer, they are value.

  • Hawthorn have lost their last 4 matches.
  • Hawthorn have lost their last 4 matches when starting as favourite.
  • Adelaide Crows have won 6 of their last 9 matches.
  • Adelaide Crows have covered the line in the last 4 matches following a loss.

Hawthorn lead their head-to-head count 10-2 from their last 12 clashes, but Adelaide took out their sole meeting last year in what was the club's first win for the season.

Hawthorn Form

The Hawks played poor footy in the second half of the Melbourne Demons match last week, looking as if they would challenge the Dees early, only to end up defeated by 50 points.

That loss made it four on the trot after scraping home in their opening round match against the Essendon Bombers.

Hawthorn are lucky to even have a single win next to their name at this stage of the campaign.

Their best game for the season was arguably against Geelong Cats in Round 3, pushing last year's Grand Final runner-ups to five point. If they bring that form to this match at their home ground, they will be hard to beat.

Hawthorn Team News

The Hawks have Mitch Lewis back but lose Daniel Howe to injury. Conor Nash, meanwhile, is left out.

Star forward Jakc Gunston is still up to a fortnight away from returning to the side while Jon Ceglar injured his ankle in a VFL match last weekend and will be out for up to a month.

Adelaide Crows Form

Adelaide have won six of their last nine matches, inclduing three this season. They are performing so much better now than what we saw in the first 16 matches of last season.

They suffered their second loss of the season last week to Fremantle, although weren't beaten out of site which was the big positive.

They had defeated North Melbourne and Gold Coast Suns the two weeks prior, and although they are not strong sides in the competition, the Crows did what they had to do to beat them.
