GWS vs Bulldogs Elimination Final Preview, Predictions & Tips

It's the 2016 Preliminary Final revisited as GWS host the Western Bulldogs at Giants Stadium.

Both teams bring great form into this contest.

The Giants have won three of their last five while the Dogs have won their past three and look one of the form sides heading into finals.

The Dogs won their last clash at Giants Stadium by a comfortable margin and they should be able to cover the line of -10.5 via BetEasy at $2.20.

GWS Team News

The Giants won well a fortnight ago against the Suns, setting the game up for Jeremy Cameron to take home the Coleman Medal after kicking nine goals.

The previous two weeks to this were two miserable losses to the Dogs and Hawks. They could easily be one win from their past five, but they toughed it out against Port Adelaide and Sydney to take the win by one and two points respectively.

Three of their best players come back into the side in Jacob Hopper, Toby Greene and  Nick Haynes which does give them a lot more fire power and structure through their side which may prove dangerous to the Dogs.

GWS are $2.05 outsiders via Ladbrokes despite playing at their home ground.

Bulldogs Team News

They Bulldogs have hit their straps and are ready to make an impact this finals series.

They have won their past three including a win over the Giants away from home, which will generate confidence heading into Saturday.

The midfield group in Marcus Bontempelli, Josh Dunkley and Jackson Macrae has been one of the strongest this season with all players having one of their best years to date.

Tory Dickson looks likely to return from a hamstring injury where young man Rhylee West may miss out.

GWS vs Bulldogs Head To Head

GWS has won three of the last four matches against the Bulldogs but the visitors have the wood on the home side at Giants Stadium, winning two of the three games played at the venue.

The Dogs also take the better form into the match up after a 61-point demolition of the Giants back in round 22.

GWS vs Bulldogs Match Up

Josh Kelly and Lachie Hunter look set to take battle on the wings.

Josh Kelly is a Brownlow Medal calibre player and while Hunter may lack the explosiveness his opponent possesses he makes up for it with his decision making.

A lot of the play will be on one side of the ground or the other, utilising these elite wingman.

GWS vs Bulldogs Key Statistics

  • Average winning margin at Giants Stadium is 53 points
  • The Western Bulldogs have won 66 per cent of matches played at Gaints Stadium
  • Jeremy Cameron has kicked the first goal of the game in four matches this season

The Dogs will take the win here by over 11 points in what looms as a very winnable game for the visitors.

The Coleman Medal winner Jeremy Cameron should get the Giants off to a good start but we expect it to be one-way traffic from there.
