The Cats have lost just five times to Port since the 2005 season and have beaten them 9 times in a row at GMHBA Stadium. This matchup is not a good one for the Power who shot themselves in the foot in The Showdown last week kicking 2.14 in the final three quarters of the match.

- Port ranks last in the AFL with a 41.7 Shot Accuracy.

Geelong tasted defeat for the first time this season going down by 8 points to the Melbourne Demons in round 8. Melbourne starved Geelong of the ball and made them work hard early, chasing short kicks in a clear tactical move by Simon Goodwin’s men. The Cats did bounce back back fatigue hurt them and a couple of easy misses by their forwards late in the game cost them their undefeated tag.
There is certainly no shame going down to Dees after Geelong’s impeccable start to the year. With their midfield connecting with the forward line as cleanly as they are, ranking third in Marks Inside 50, and also being able to lock in the ball, leading the AFL with 74.6 intercepts per game, Geelong have proven that they will be a contender in 2024.

Port were blown out of the water last Thursday night in The 55th Showdown with rivals Adelaide, as the Crows put in their best performance of the year and annihilated Port 78-48.
As much as it was the Crows, it was also Port beating themselves with an unforgivable tally of behinds in the final 3 quarters. The Power won the time in forward half battle 57-43 percent, however, they kicked 2.14 in the final three terms of the game.
The poor showing upfront has been the trend for Port this season who have the worst Shot Accuracy percentage of 41.7. This stat hurts even more considering they rank second in the AFL with 57.8 Inside 50’s and 14.6 Marks Inside 50. Spending so much time in their forward half and not getting a result is an issue that coach Ken Hinkley needs to fix quick-smart.
