Carlton take on Hawthorn at Optus Stadium on Friday evening with both teams in dire need of a win to keep in finals contention.
Carlton is resurgent this season, winning three of their last five matches. Hawthorn has lost four-straight games and could almost rule themselves out of finals contention if they lose again on Friday.
Carlton Form & Team News
Carlton has been showing a huge spark this season, winning three of their last five matches. It could have been a three game winning streak heading into Friday if not for some Robbie Gray magic after the siren two weeks ago.
The big positive from this is that their superstar skipper Patty Cripps has not had a huge influence on matches, so they are winning without him playing a key role.
Expect him to free up this week with umpires most likely watching closely on how heavily he is being tagged.

Hawthorn Form & Team News
The Hawks are on the downhill slide and it is a testament to the fall of this once great club that they are the outsiders heading into a game against a side they've beaten in 16 of their last 17 games.
The re-build stage is approaching and they do seemingly need that high draft pick that can play a core role for the side.
Having two key forwards in John Patton and Luke Bruest injured does not help their case when they can only kick the ball inside 50 to Jack Gunston.
Bruest could possibly return this weekend, but will undergo a test to see whether his jaw is ready for match play.

Carlton vs Hawthorn Head To Head
Carlton have a dismal record against the Hawks, winning just the one match from their last 17 appearances, but Carlton have seemingly been in a re-build stage for seven or eight years now.
They are finally hitting their straps and while Hawthorn are down on form, this is the opportunity for them to win one back.
Carlton vs Hawthorn Betting Odds
Carlton have not been missed in the market, coming up at $1.54 while Hawthorn are at $2.50.
The line has been set for Carlton at -10.5.
Carlton vs Hawthorn Match Up
The key match up for this game could be between James Worpel and Patrick Cripps.
Worpel who is a Hawthorn hard nut will likely line up on the star, and will have a big fight on his hands.
Cripps has either been injured or heavily guarded in the last few weeks, having little influence on their last two wins which is a positive sign for the club.
This match does look an opportunity for Cripps to break the shackle and unleash on this match on a possible size mis-match on Worpel.
If so, there will be no stopping the Blues.
