- Carlton vs Hawthorn AFL 2024 Round 22 FAQ’s
The Hawks have made a rise from the bottom of the ladder and are just one win outside of the eight and after a slip up last week giving up a 30+ lead they will be keen to make amends and will get the win against the Blues.
Hawthorn have been almost uncontainable in attack averaging close to 100 points per game in their last 10 matches and they will move the ball too swiftly for Carlton who are a bottom.five team in points against this season.
Expect the Hawks to win and for them to kick over their team total of 85.5 points.
- Carlton have lost 4 of their past 5 matches.
- Hawthorn have won 8 of their past 10 games.
- Hawthorn have averaged 96.8 points in their past 10 matches.
- Carlton have conceded an average of 93.4 points in their past 5 matches.
Head to Head
Carlton embarrassed Hawthorn in their matchup in 2023, beating the Hawks by 60 points with a commanding 112-52 victory.
It was the Blues third consecutive victory over the Hawks in three seasons.

It wasn’t long ago that we were talking about the Blues being the only true contenders to Sydney for the Premiership and now both are crashing and burning at the wrong time of the season.
Carlton fell to their closest rival Collingwood last week, going down 84-81, kicking 5 goals to one in the final term to almost complete a 30+-point comeback in the final term.
The loss is now Carlton’s fourth in their past 5 games with their only win coming against North Melbourne, who are second last on the ladder.

The young Hawks got a reality check last weekend and were brought back to earth after two consecutive 66-point wins over Collingwood and Adelaide.
For all money it looked like Hawthorn were on their way to a third 50+ point win, leading GWS by 29 points late in the third quarter. However the Hawks confidence was soon squashed with the Giants coming back to snatch the win late 84-82, kicking 7 goals to two in the final term.
The Hawks now take on another giant, the Carlton Blues this week and it is going to be very interesting to see how they respond. The Hawthorn trajectory into the finals looked imminent and is still on its way there if they can respond positively and learn from their hard loss last week.
Hawthorn Team News
The Hawks came out of the loss to the Giants unscathed. Josh Ward has been omitted and will be replaced later in the weekend.
