Brisbane Lions take on Geelong Cats in the second AFL Preliminary Final at the Gabba on Saturday as they bid to make their first Grand Final since 2004 in their premiership era.

With Geelong playing in such good footy last week, the Cats would just about be unbeatable if they maintained that form heading into the final two rounds. But did they play their Grand Final last week and can they down the Lions at the Gabba?

Brisbane Form & Team News

The Lions are in tip top shape for this match against Geelong. Although playing just the one match in 28 days, Brisbane showed against Richmond how good they are fresh in their 69-54 Elimination Final win two weeks ago.

Lachie Neale is all class and shows that each and every week, while Daniel Rich has been incredibly damaging off the half-back line with his left foot.

The Lions have incredible depth right throughout their side, and will not want to let the opportunity of a Grand Final slip away while it is at the Gabba.

The Lions make one change with Cam Ellis-Yolmen coming into the midfielder in place of Keidean Coleman.

The Lions team for Saturday is below:

B: D.Rich, D.Gardiner, H.Andrews
HB: Z.Bailey, R.Lester, G.Birchall
C: H.McCluggage, M.Robinson, C.Ah Chee
HF: D.Zorko, D.McStay, C.Rayner
F: O.McInerney, E.Hipwood, C.Cameron
FOLL: S.Martin, J.Lyons, L.Neale
I/C: J.Berry, L.McCarthy, C.Ellis-Yolmen, B.Starcevich

Geelong Form & Team News

Geelong were incredible last week in their 100-32 win over Collingwood, to the point where you could give them the premiership cup now if they played that same match for the next two weeks.

But to play two games like that is very difficult, especially coming up against a side like Brisbane at home.

Patrick Dangerfield, Tom Hawkins and Gary Rohan were phenomenal last week, as were just about everyone in the Cats side. But the trio mentioned played a big part of that win over Collingwood by more than 10 goals.

Geelong will need to repeat that effort once again, while Brisbane are fresh and ready to play.

The Cats name an unchanged side with Rhys Stanley passed fit to play.

The Cats team for Saturday is below:

B: J.Henry, H.Taylor, J.Kolodjashnij
HB: L.Henderson, M.Blicavs, T.Stewart
C: M.Duncan, J.Selwood, S.Menegola
HF: L.Dahlhaus, G.Rohan, G.Miers
F: G.Ablett, T.Hawkins, S.Simpson
FOLL: R.Stanley, P.Dangerfield, C.Guthrie
I/C: J.Bews, B.Parfitt, Z.Tuohy, M.O’Connor
EMG: T.Atkins, Z.Guthrie, E.Ratugolea, B.Close

Brisbane vs Geelong Head To Head

Geelong holds a 4-1 record over the Lions across the last five games, winning their latest clash this season with what was a second and third quarter blitz.

That will be sitting on the shoulders of Brisbane coach Chris Fagan who will be desperate to reverse that result.

Brisbane vs Geelong Betting Odds

The Lions are well supported favourites at $1.74 while Geelong are marginal drifters at $2.10.

The line has been set for the Lions at -3.5.

Brisbane vs Geelong Match Up

The key match up of this game is going to be between Tom Hawkins and Harris Andrews.

Both All Australians, Hawkins has had the nod on Andrews thus far into their rivalry. But the latter is always improving and will be adopting different tactics rather than a body on body approach.

Hawkins kicked five points in their loss to Port Adelaide in week one of the final series, but reversed that result last week agains the Pies. If he is hot, the Cats will win, and if not the Brisbane look the victors.
