Brisbane Lions ended a 15-game losing streak against the Tigers when beating Richmond 69-54 in the first week of the finals last year. 

The Tigers recovered to go on to become premiers, while the Lions slipped up at the penultimate hurdle.

The win in Qualifying Final was Brisbane's first over the Tigers since 2009. That included an 82-41 win for Richmond in the home and away season.

Brisbane have lost key defender Darcy Gardiner for up to three months after he suffered shoulder dislocation.

Ryan Lester is also out after coming off early against the Suns with a hamstring injury.

Keidean Coleman was the medical sub for Lester and retains his place, while Brandon Starcevich comes in for Gardiner. James Madden also comes back in.

The Tigers claimed a much-needed win with a 87-83 come-from-behind victory over the GWS Giants at Marvel Stadium last weekend

Richmond were 28 points down in the third-quarter but produced a comeback to win by less the a goal. Dustin Martin was the match winner with 28 disposals and four goals.

It was the third time in six weeks that the Tigers bounced back from a loss in their previous game.

In Round 8, the reigning premiers were beaten by 63 points by Geelong Cats at the MCG in a replay of the 2020 Grand Final.

Richmond are still be without injured quintent Shai Bolton (wrist), Trent Cotchin (hamstring), Shane Edwards (ankle), Kane Lambert (calf) and Dion Prestia (calf). 

Youngsters Riley Collier-Dawkins and Hugo Ralphsmith will play key roles again. Young defender Rhyan Marshall is given a rest.
