AFL fixture for the opening month of footy revealed

The AFL has released its revised draw heading towards the game's return on June 11, with Collingwood and Richmond restarting the season on a Thursday night at the MCG.

Rounds 2-5 will all start with a Thursday night match and will conclude on Sunday, with this system likely to remain in place for the remainder of the season.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide is the notable fixture from round 2, with the teams facing off their traditional Showdown clash before relocating to a hub in south-east Queensland alongside the Western Australian teams.

The AFL is hopeful that both states continue to relax COVID-19 enforced restrictions, which would allow the four teams based in those states to play matches at home, this removing the requirement to be away from home.

Brisbane, Carlton, Geelong and St Kilda are the only teams who won't have to board a plane between Rounds 2-5.

The remainder of the AFL season will be released in four week blocks.
