Adelaide Crows vs Gold Coast Suns

Both teams finished in the bottom half of the ladder last season, but both have kicked off the season with a win within the first two rounds.

Adelaide caused a massive upset in Round 1 when beating Geelong, while Gold Coast comfortably handled North Melbourne in Round 2 last weekend. The Crows have a strong record against the Suns and can take the points.

  • Adelaide Crows' Taylor Walker has scored 11 goals in 2 matches this season.
  • Adelaide Crows have won 14 of the 15 clashes with Gold Coast Suns.
  • Adelaide Crows have covered the line in 13 of the last 14 matches against the Gold Coast Suns.
  • Gold Coast have lost their last 10 matches in South Australia.

Adelaide Crows hold a dominant 14-1 head to head advantage over the Gold Coast Suns.

The last match between the sides was played in June last year at Metricon Stadium where the Suns ran away convincing 82-29 winners for their first win over the Crows.

Adelaide Crows Form

After kicking off with a win against the Geelong Cats in what was arguably the biggest upset of the Round 1, the Crows played well against a young and talented Sydney Swans side last weekend.

Adelaide lost little in a defeat by under six goals in what was a high scoring affair.

The Crows are playing a very good brand of football and the big key to their success is Taylor Walker, currently leading the Coleman Medal list having kicked a bag of five goals in Round 1 and six last week.

Walker had been in poor form for a number of seasons now, but the new stand rule has allowed him to take advantage of leading angles and to get an extra five metres on his already enormous kick.

Adelaide Crows Team News

Jake Kelly is back this week as he returns from concussion, while Luke Brown slots straight back into the Crows defence.

Star defender Daniel Talia is only a week or two off playing once again, while number two draft pick Riley Thilthorpe isn't rushed back following a head knock.

Gold Coast Suns Form

Last week's 98-39 win over North Melbourne was the confidence booster the Suns needed to kick start their season.

It underlined that home matches will be key to their finals hopes this season.

Izak Rankine proved he is truly an up and coming star last week by kicking three goals and gathering 16 disposals, while Noah Anderson cleaned up with 35 disposals.

Gold Coast Suns Team News

Connor Budarick received the bad news of an ACL injury which will see him out for the season.

He is a big loss for the Suns, while Sam Day is also ruled out after picking up a knee injury.

Jacob Townsend will need surgery for his facial fracture, but the Suns do have Jarrod Harbrow and Chris Burgess back on deck.
